Welcome to the San Luis Valley

The San Luis Valley is located in the southern central mountains of Colorado and northern New Mexico. It is a mountain valley surrounded by two mountain ranges, the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range and the San Juan Mountain Range. The San Luis Valley is around 120 miles long and about 70 miles wide and is the world's largest alpine valley. It is home to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, which has the tallest sand dunes in North America, and the Rio Grande River. There are several species of wildlife located here including Mule Deer, Elk, Black Bear, Bighorn Sheep, Antelope and various types waterfowl and aquatic life. Challenge Colorado Therapeutic Riding Program is located in the San Luis Valley.
